RESIDENTIAL RADON MEASUREMENT

Invisible Threat to Your Health
Radon is the greatest single source of radiation exposure to the general public and the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas created from the normal decay of rock and soil. This gas migrates up through the soil and enters your home through the floors, foundations, and walls and can accumulate in your home, resulting in unhealthy levels.

Knowledge is Power
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends considering mitigation in homes with average concentrations exceeding 4.0 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). Countless buildings in the United States exhibit elevated radon levels, including many homes in the Oregon and southwest Washington regions due to the unique geology in our area. The first step to protect yourself and your family from radon exposure is to measure the radon levels in your home.

Precise Measurements
Soil Solutions follows EPA and National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) testing protocols to accurately measure the average radon levels in the home, typically using a continuous radon monitor. Testing requirements for a valid short-term radon test includes meeting "Closed House Conditions” 12 hours prior to and throughout the 48 hour test duration. Please review these instructions and provide them to any occupants of the house, before your testing appointment.  Closed House Conditions Document

Accurate Results
Following the test, you will be provided with a complete inspection report documenting the radon levels detected in the home. Should elevated levels be discovered, Soil Solutions can provide a proposal for the installation of a radon mitigation system to reduce the levels in your home.

Whether you are doing your due diligence for a property you plan to purchase, or you are a homeowner who wants to know how the radon levels in your home compare to EPA guidelines, Soil Solutions is here to answer your questions and expedite the testing you require.
